Raw Stones

Raw Bloodstone Set – Green Jasper, Lapidary Specimen

$16.20

  • Details
Two distinct 3-piece sets of raw bloodstone, a green jasper variety known geologically as a form of cryptocrystalline quartz (chalcedony). These pieces were selected from my Rock Shelf for their rich green base tones, natural surface texture, and visible translucency under light. Some pieces show red hematite speckling, consistent with bloodstone formation. The red to orange spots on bloodstones are caused by the presence of iron oxides, such as hematite. Though some bloodstones may have few or no such spots. These spots can appear as dots, streaks, or tiny clouds — it depends on how the iron moved through the stone at the time.

Each piece shows partial translucency under strong light. Some zones glow richly, while thicker or iron‑dense areas remain opaque. This variation is completely natural for chalcedony and reflects the way the quartz and iron minerals formed together over time.

These are unpolished, untreated specimens — ideal for lapidary work, educational study, or display.

Each set includes 3 pieces. Sold as-is. Photos show actual stones.
